Update, Dec. 18 — Embiid is once again listed as questionable, this time for Sunday’s game against the Pelicans.
Update, Dec. 15 — Embiid and Curry are both listed as starters by the Sixers prior to tip-off vs. the Heat on Wednesday night. So both are available to play it seems. With that news, Milton isn’t really a viable play. Embiid makes some sense as a pivot in tournaments if you can catch him going underowned on the slate.
The latest on Embiid is he’s going to be closer to a game-time decision for Wednesday vs. the Heat. Embiid appears on track to play but you never really know. You’ll have to be glued to the injury report to swap your lineups before lock. If Embiid sits, Drummond becomes a strong (yet chalky) option. Furkan Korkmaz and Seth Curry (also a GTD) could both be out. Shake Milton ($4,400) is interesting if Curry sits. He returned decent value the other night with Curry and Embiid out.
Embiid went through shootaround on Wednesday morning, which is usually a good indication he’ll be able to play against the Heat. Embiid remains questionable, so we’ll know more later on. Hopefully it won’t be too late by then.
Update, Dec. 14 — Embiid is being listed as questionable to play in Wednesday’s game vs. the Miami Heat. The Sixers C was a late scratch from last night’s game due to a rib injury and we’ll see if he’s held out again. Hopefully, the Sixers respect the DFS and betting world by letting us know a little earlier on Wednesday. That’d be great.
If Embiid is out again, Drummond will be chalky on DraftKings. We don’t have prices yet, but we know. It was a pretty poor effort on Monday without Embiid. Tobias Harris could be an OK GPP play if Embiid sits again. Tyrese Maxey had the best game against Memphis with 23 points and 7 assists. Granted, it was a blowout and Curry was also out. Curry is listed as questionable as well.
Philadelphia 76ers C Joel Embiid was a late scratch from Monday’s game vs. the Memphis Grizzlies due to a rib injury, the team announced after lock. Embiid was replaced by Andre Drummond in the starting lineup. Seth Curry (shoulder) was also ruled out and replaced by Furkan Korkmaz in the starting five against the Grizzlies. Memphis had three players on the injury report and all of them are playing: Desmond Bane, Jaren Jackson Jr., and Steven Adams.
So obviously if you had Embiid in your lineup things aren’t looking great. You likely weren’t able to pivot off of Embiid in time, which isn’t anyone’s fault really. Well, it’s the NBA and the Sixers for springing this on us without warning. This has happened in the past and it’s apart of NBA DFS unfortunately.
Of course, Drummond is crushing it early in the first quarter against the Grizz. He’s got four boards, three dimes, two points and a block so far. If you had Drummond for whatever reason, you’re looking like a genius right now. Tobias Harris has seven points early on and Korkmaz is up to six. Those two could be tasked with carrying the offense with Curry and Embiid out.
