The Atlanta Hawks meet the Brooklyn Nets in what is a measuring stick for Atlanta’s up-and-coming roster. The Hawks could be without big man John Collins, who is listed as questionable for the contest with a foot injury.

John Collins injury updates

Update, Nov. 5: Collins is questionable to play in Saturday’s game against the Suns. Given his eventual designation to “active” in the last two games after being listed as questionable, it’s safe to say Collins is playing through his injury.

Update, Nov. 4: Collins is being listed as questionable to play in Thursday’s game vs. the Utah Jazz. Collins was able to play in Wednesday’s game vs. the Nets, playing 37 minutes in the loss while posting a 13-12 double-double.

Update, Nov. 3: Collins will play and start Wednesday against the Nets. That’s a big boost for the Hawks, who will also have Trae Young and Bogdan Bogdanovic available.

Update, Nov. 3: Collins is considered a game-time decision for Wednesday’s contest against the Nets. Tipoff is set for 7:30 ET, so there should be another update closer to that time. Expect the line to tilt further in Brooklyn’s favor if the big man ultimately decides to sit this one out.

John Collins injury: Fantasy basketball impact

If Collins doesn’t play, expect the Hawks to use smaller lineups around Clint Capela as the lone big. That means more rebounds for Capela, and could also help Atlanta’s perimeter players as they get more opportunities with Collins out. Trae Young remains a consistent force, though his assist numbers might take a small hit.

Betting impact

The Hawks are going to be underdogs in this game no matter what, so Collins’ potential absence might not mean much in terms of moneyline odds. The spread might tilt slightly towards Brooklyn, while the total might be down few points if the power forward is ultimately ruled out of the contest.
