Texas stuns West Virginia with corner 3 to stay undefeated in Big 12

The No. 4 Texas Longhorns pulled off a stunner in Morgantown as Andrew Jones hit a three-pointer from the corner with 1.9 seconds remaining to beat the No. 14 West Virginia Mountaineers 72-70 on Saturday afternoon.

West Virginia got two missed free throws from Emmitt Matthews Jr. with 10 seconds remaining to set up the Longhorns, whose dream season continues. It was the first lead for Texas since 11:33 of the first half, and the Longhorns finished just 4-21 from three point range. They were also outscored 40-22 in the paint, but they’re flying home winners.

Head coach Shaka Smart had the hottest seat in college basketball just 10 months ago, and now they’re in contention to win the Horns first outright conference championship since 1999.
