Is it too early to be looking at the odds for the Big East Tournament? Of course not, why would someone ask such a silly question? There’s a clear favorite at the top with a team that has developed into one of the premier college basketball programs in the country.

The Villanova Wildcats are pretty heavy favorites to win the Big East Tournament at Madison Square Garden. The ‘Cats are currently going through some issues right now as head coach Jay Wright tested positive for COVID-19 the day after Christmas, and haven’t played since Dec. 23. At 8-1 overall, their only loss came in late November in overtime to the Virginia Tech Hokies.

If anyone can stop Villanova in the Big East Tournament, oddsmakers think the Creighton Bluejays, who have the second best chance at +400. CU is coming off a big win over Seton Hall by 36 points on Wednesday and is ranked No. 7 in the AP Poll. This was an especially impressive victory as Creighton’s best player Marcus Zegarowski scored just 11 points.

To round out the top three before a big drop off, the UConn Huskies are the third by the books at +500. The Huskies are led by the conference’s leading scorer James Bouknight, who is averaging 20.3 points per game, though UConn has played just six times so far.

As for the bottom of the Big East, the DePaul Blue Demons and Georgetown Hoyas check in with +50000 odds to win a conference tournament championship this season. Right now Georgetown is 3-7, and DePaul is just 1-2 due to COVID-19 outbreaks.
