Saturday update: The Saints have made it official by activating Michael Thomas to the roster, per Nick Underhill.

New Orleans Saints wide receiver will return to practice on Wednesday. per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Thomas has been dealing with a high-ankle sprain this season and never could get it completely healthy, so the team put him on injured reserve to rest up for the playoffs. Well, the playoffs are here and so is Thomas.

The Saints will host the Chicago Bears on Sunday, and according to Rapoport, the time off did help Thomas’ ankle. He’ll need to get ramped back up in practice, so will be limited on Wednesday, but hopefully he’ll get a full practice in on Friday.

We all know what Thomas can do when healthy and it sure doesn’t look like he has been 100 percent healthy for most of the season. He ended up playing in seven games and catching 40 passes for 438 yards and no touchdowns. This was a lost season for Thomas, but a strong showing in the playoffs could turn things around for the fifth-year receiver.
