The Buffalo Bills host the Indianapolis Colts in the Wild Card round of the 2021 NFL playoffs. The game is scheduled for Saturday, January 9th, with kickoff set for 1:05 p.m. ET. The game will air on CBS. If the Bills win the game, they will face the Steelers, Titans or Ravens with home-field advantage in the Divisional round. If the Colts win, they will face the Chiefs on the road in Kansas City, who have a first-round bye as the No. 1 seed.

How the Colts and Bills got here

The Bills certainly earned their right to the No. 2 seed and their homefield advantage after the season they’ve had. QB Josh Allen, who was selected seventh overall in the 2018 NFL Draft, made a significant third-year leap and has been playing his way toward a potential MVP title. The team went out in the 2020 off-season and made a big-time trade to acquire WR Stefon Diggs from the Vikings, which paid off, as he and Allen have shown a significant rapport that has undoubtedly helped lead the team to their 13-3 record. Allen finished his season with a 69.2% completion rate to go along with 37 passing touchdowns and 10 INTs.

The Colts closed out the 2020 season sitting at 11-5, but didn’t manage to win the AFC South from the Tennessee Titans. Their unit is delightfully balanced, with a well-established run game under rookie Jonathan Taylor and dual-threat Nyheim Hines. Philip Rivers came into his own following the bye, turning his 7-6 TD to INT ratio to 17-5 in the back half of the season. The Colts defense presented plenty of challenges for opposing offenses, too, with Darius Leonard, DeForest Buckner, and Justin Houston staring down the barrel of the gun at opposing QBs. Despite the strength of the defense, they’ll undoubtedly have a challenge containing Josh Allen through the air and on the ground.
