In-game injury updates here
Game day update: The Rams will start John Wolford over Jared Goff, but Goff is active as the backup.
Thursday update: The Rams have listed Jared Goff as questionable on their final injury report.
Wednesday PM update: The Rams returned to practice and Jared Goff got in a limited workout for a second straight day.
Wednesday AM update: Coach Sean McVay isn’t going to tip his hat on who their starting quarterback will be against the Seahawks this week, per Lindsey Thiry. Initial reports have Goff’s availability as iffy, but McVay is going to keep the starter unknown for as long as possible.
Tuesday update: Sean McVay met with the media on Tuesday and said he has not made a decision on the starting QB for Saturday. He said Jared Goff is taking his surgery recovery, “a day at a time,” per Jourdan Rodrigue. McVay said Goff will hopefully get some work in on Tuesday and has already been throwing, per Rodrigue.
Los Angeles Rams quarterback Jared Goff had surgery for his broken thumb and missed Week 17. John Wolford got the start and helped the Rams beat the Cardinals, but there is a chance Goff could return this week, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Goff was able to throw on Sunday according to Rapoport, but “it’s expected to be challenging for him to play.” With their playoff game against the Seahawks coming on Saturday, I think we can expect Wolford to get the majority of the starting practice reps and likely the start.
In their win against the Cardinals, Wolford wasn’t great, but he was good enough, especially with his running ability, to give the Rams enough scoring chances to allow their defense to win the game for them.
We should expect a similar outing from Wolford against the Seahawks, as the team limits his deep passing and relies on the defense to keep the game low scoring.
