What to do with Philip Rivers in Week 17 of the fantasy football playoffs

We go over the fantasy football outlook of Philip Rivers ahead of the Colts Week 17 matchup against the Jaguars.

After a loss to the Steelers last week, the Indianapolis Colts are clinging by a fingernail to their postseason hopes. They need a win this week as well as a loss from one of three other teams vying for an AFC Wildcard bid to sneak into the playoffs. It’s safe to say that the starters won’t be resting in this one, and fortunately for the Colts, they’ve got the Jaguars on the schedule this week. But will that be enough to make quarterback Philip River a useful option in fantasy this week?

Fantasy Football analysis: Colts QB Philip Rivers

Rivers shouldered at least some of the blame for last week’s loss, finishing with just 270 yards, one touchdown, and one pick. He’d been a useful fantasy asset before that with at least two touchdowns in each of his last five games.

The Colts haven’t seen the Jaguars since Week 1. In that game, Rivers threw two picks and just one touchdown. But the Jags have been bleeding points to opposing signal callers over the last several weeks.

Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation

Even on his best days, Rivers doesn’t put up the kind of numbers some of his higher-ceiling peers do. This week, he’s a decent option for streaming with the most realistic outcome being a couple of touchdown passes and something south of 300 passing yards.
