The Super Bowl is a little over a week away, and DraftKings Sportsbook is here to count down to the big game. The book is offering a different boost on prop bet odds each of the next ten days. You’ll have the day to bet it and then the boost goes away.
On Friday, DraftKings is boosting the odds for a scoreless quarter. The odds for a full quarter to go by without any points scored sits at +650, and for one day that number is increased to +715 odds.
Obviously we’re looking at something that is already +650 odds, meaning this is highly unlikely to happen. Those odds make sense considering the 2021 Super Bowl features prolific offenses between the Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The point total is set at 56.5 on DraftKings Sportsbook would tie for the second highest over/under in the history of the Super Bowl.
However, there is precedent to show this wager could be successful as this happened in the two highest over/unders in Super Bowl history. The over/under for Super Bowl 53 between the New England Patriots and Los Angeles Rams was at 56, and the game ended 13-3 as the lowest-scoring Super Bowl ever — which included a scoreless first quarter. In addition, the highest over/under ever was in Super Bowl 51 between the Patriots and Atlanta Falcons at 57. That game also featured a scoreless first quarter.
Through two Super Bowls that came in with over/under point totals at 56.5 or higher, both featured a scoreless quarter. It might be worth a small wager to come away with a big payout in the event it’s a winner. Just make sure you get it in on Friday because the boost clock is ticking.
