The Kansas City Chiefs are slight favorites to beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Super Bowl 55. A big reason for that is their high-powered offense, one that scored nearly 30 points per game in the regular season, and is averaging exactly 30 points in the playoffs so far.
Kansas City’s running game doesn’t get a lot of attention. It just doesn’t feature as much as Patrick Mahomes, Tyreek Hill, and Travis Kelce, but it’s still an important contributor. Rookie running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire finished the regular season with 803 yards on 181 carries, with four rushing scores. He added another 297 yards and one receiving touchdown on 36 catches.
Injuries kept him off the field for four games this season and into the playoffs; he missed their Divisional round game against the Browns. Last week in the AFC Championship, CEH had just seven yards on six carries, but he did manage to slip into the end zone on one of those attempts. He was second fiddle to Darrell Williams, who had 13 carries and 52 yards on the ground, as well as a touchdown.
