The Los Angeles Lakers announced on Thursday afternoon that Anthony Davis will be out with a right quad injury against the Detroit Pistons. The superstar forward was listed earlier in the day as questionable with a right knee contusion.
Davis was seen favoring his leg early in Wednesday night’s game against the Philadelphia 76ers. But the veteran big man ultimately stayed in and produced 24 points and eight rebounds in 34 minutes played. That being said, it does not come as a surprise to see Davis ruled out as this is the second game of a back-to-back for the Lakers.
Overall, this will be the third game that the 27-year-old has missed this season. In 17 games, Davis is averaging 21.9 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 3.5 assists in 32.8 minutes per game. The Lakers will now likely start Montrezl Harrell in place of Anthony Davis, while Marc Gasol holds down the center spot.
