Update — The MRI on Sabonis’ left knee revealed no structural damage, just a bruise, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. Sabonis is expected to be day to day on a return.

Update — X-Rays showed that Sabonis hasn’t suffered any structural damage but he has an MRI set for Tuesday, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Indiana Pacers forward Domantas Sabonis had to head back to the locker room on Monday during the first quarter of his team’s matchup with the Toronto Raptors. The big man suffered a left knee contusion and won’t return to the contest. He appeared to suffer the injury when he bumped knees with Kyle Lowry.

Sabonis got off to a hot start against Toronto and tallied 11 points, 3 rebounds, and a pair of assists before leaving the contest. Indiana will have to go deeper into its bench than usual, which could lead to more time for Goga Bitazde and JaKarr Sampson.

Myles Turner has been the Pacers’ defensive anchor in the post all season but could have to pick up his scoring and rebounding to make up for the absence of Sabonis. Turner scored a season-high 25 points on 8-of-12 shooting against the Raptors on Sunday.
