How the Chiefs Super Bowl odds have changed during the 2020 season

The Kansas City Chiefs are headed to Super Bowl 55 where they will face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. We break down the Chiefs odds over the past year from when they opened a year ago to where they stand now.

The 2019 Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs have been on a non-stop express train to Super Bowl 55 and you can track that train through their odds to repeat as champions. At no point have the Chiefs been anything other than the favorites to win this year’s big game.

Directly following last year’s Super Bowl 54, Kansas City opened at +600 to repeat over at DraftKings Sportsbook, while the Baltimore Ravens were the next favorite at +650. The Ravens did catch them at times, tying at +500 and +550 as the odds fluctuated throughout the offseason, but the Chiefs always remained on top.

The Chiefs got out to a 4-0 start, but lost a home game to the Las Vegas Raiders 40-32 in Week 5. That loss to a middling Raiders team was the only real glitch in the ever decreasing odds for the Chiefs to win it all. They had dropped to +350 after their 4-0 start, but had a slight increase after their loss, moving back to +400.

By the time the playoffs rolled around, the Chiefs were at +225 to win it all, while the Green Bay Packers were next up at +450. By the time the Conference Championships were set, the Packers fell to +225, tied with the Chiefs. But still, no team ever passed them by in the odds department.

Now that we are here, the Chiefs are at -162 to win, while the Buccaneers are at +143. Can they go from start to finish as the favorite and take home the hardware?
