Gameday updates, current odds as of Sunday, Feb. 7th at 10:00 a.m. ET: It’s officially Super Bowl Sunday! Let’s take a look at some updates in the final hours ahead of Super Bowl LV.

Though there were initially concerns regarding the potential for thunderstorms, The Weather Channel’s forecast has largely cleared up for the Tampa Bay area. As of 10 a.m. ET the temperature sits at 69 degrees Fahrenheit, and projects for sun from 3 p.m. ET into the evening.

Both the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Kansas City Chiefs issued their final injury reports on Friday. Tampa Bay listed WR Antonio Brown (knee) and TE Cameron Brate (back) as officially questionable for the game, but Adam Schefter has reported that both are expected to be active for the big game. Though LB Lavonte David (hamstring) and S Jordan Whitehead (shoulder) were both left off of the Bucs’ final injury report, neither will be 100% in this outing.

Kansas City unsurprisingly ruled out T Eric Fischer with an Achilles injury and LB Willie Gay with knee and ankle injuries on the Chiefs’ final injury report. WR Sammy Watkins was listed as questionable but is expected to play, per Adam Schefter. Though QB Patrick Mahomes didn’t technically land on the injury report, he continues to manage a turf toe injury suffered against the Browns in the Divisional Round. Word is that he’ll likely have surgery in the offseason.

Since opening odds were posted, the lines for Super Bowl LV have hardly moved. The initial point total was set at 57.5 and now sits at 56, the biggest change on the week. Moneyline odds sit quite close to where they’ve opened, too.

Updates, current odds as of Tuesday, Feb. 3rd at 6:50 p.m. ET: Super Bowl 55 is quickly approaching, and the NFL is taking final steps to prepare for the 2021 NFL championship game. Luckily, the Bucs will not have to travel and get to remain in Tampa where they continue to isolate as a precautionary measure for COVID-19. The Chiefs will travel to Tampa Bay on Saturday. At this point in the week, if any player tests positive for COVID-19, they will officially be ruled out for the Super Bowl.

Each team will release their first injury reports of the week on Wednesday, but both the Bucs and the Chiefs have a few names worth monitoring. The Chiefs enter Super Bowl week relatively healthy, as WR Sammy Watkins says he is “feeling great” and is hopeful to play in Sunday’s big game. DB L’Jerius Snead has been managing a concussion but has cleared protocol and is good to go.

The Bucs, conversely, are a bit more banged up heading into Super Bowl week. WR Antonio Brown has been managing a knee injury and was noted on the bye week injury report as doubtful. Luckily, the Bucs have some depth at the position in case he’s unable to go Sunday. The defense is also banged up, with safety Antoine Winfield managing an ankle injury and Jordan Whitehead managing shoulder and knee injuries. Lavonte David has been on the report too, with a hamstring injury, but Arians doesn’t seem concerned about his status for Super Bowl 55.

Since opening odds were posted, the lines haven’t moved much, with the most notable difference in the projected point total. The over/under has dropped to 56 from its original point at 57.5.

Getting ready for Super Bowl LV

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Kansas City Chiefs are officially set to compete in Super Bowl LV in Tampa Bay, Florida. The game will take place at Raymond James Stadium with kickoff set for 6:30 p.m. ET on Sunday, February 27. CBS will broadcast the game, with Jim Nantz and Tony Romo in the announcer booth.

How the Bucs and Chiefs got here

The Bucs are the ultimate Cinderella story following Jameis Winston’s 30-for-30 effort in the 2019 season. They undoubtedly went all-in, signing free agent Tom Brady and securing what might be the best set of offensive weapons a sing team has ever seen. HC Bruce Arians led the team to an 11-5 record with the help of Brady and company, and secured the fifth seed in the NFC as a result. They traveled from Washington D.C. to New Orleans, and finally, to Green Bay, where they clinched their first NFC title since 2002, when they won the Super Bowl under Jon Gruden. With their win, the Bucs become the first NFL team to ever play a Super Bowl game at their home stadium.

Patrick Mahomes is officially becoming well-acquainted with Super Bowl appearances in his third year as an NFL starter. He and head coach Andy Reid helped lead the Chiefs to a 14-2 record in the regular season to secure a first-round bye as the No. 1 seed in the AFC. Mahomes finished the season with 4,740 passing yards, 38 passing TDs and 6 INTs. Among NFL QBs in 2020, Mahomes ranked first in passing yards per game (316), fourth in passing TDs (38) and third in passer rating (108.2). Mahomes had plenty of assets on each side of the ball to help advance his effort, including Tyreek Hill with his career-high 17 touchdowns and Travis Kelce, who posted his fifth consecutive 1,000 receiving yard season.
