What to do with Josh Allen in the AFC Championship

We go over the fantasy football and DFS outlook of Josh Allen ahead of the Bills matchup up against the Chiefs in the AFC Championship.

Top targets for Sunday’s Buffalo vs Kansas City Showdown Contest

The Buffalo Bills haven’t made the AFC Championship since 1994, where they beat up on the Kansas City Chiefs in a 30-13 victory. Now, led by 24-year-old Josh Allen, the Bills will look to repeat history and continue their run towards a first ever Super Bowl title. But you’re not here to talk about that, you want to know if you should start Allen in your QB spot for the Conference Championship DFS slate. Let’s get into it.

Fantasy Football analysis: Bills QB Josh Allen, $6,900

In the Divisional Round, Allen faced a Baltimore defense that held him to 206 passing yards, one touchdown, and just three rushing yards, resulting in his lowest DraftKings score of the season with 12.54 DKFP. This week, he’ll find himself up against one of the few defenses that tamed him this season. In their Week 6 meeting, Josh threw for 122 yards (season-low), two touchdowns, and an interception against Kansas City.

The Chiefs defense stifled Baker Mayfield and the Browns in the Divisional Round, though throughout the regular season it was allowing the ninth-most DKFP per game to opposing quarterbacks. There are certainly areas for exploitation with this Kansas City defense, but the real question is Patrick Mahomes’ health. After leaving last week’s game early due to a concussion, Mahomes’ status for Sunday is in question. If he plays, we can expect a faster-paced game environment, allowing for more opportunities for fantasy goodness on both sides of the ball (including Josh Allen).

Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation

With a greater potential of a shootout than the NFC Championship, and at a $700 discount from Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen is a great way to start your roster builds.
