There are 10 games in the NBA for Wednesday, January 20th and we’re crossing our fingers that no more end up being postponed. The game between the Washington Wizards and Charlotte Hornets already got the axe, so we’re down to 10 games, which I think will suffice. Coming off a two-game slate, we’ve got a ton of action coming in from DraftKings Sportsbook, so we’re going to take a look at some betting splits. You can check out the table below and we’ll add some analysis for each market.
We’ve got a few marquee matchups with the Boston Celtics taking on the Philadelphia 76ers, the Miami Heat facing the Toronto Raptors, and the Golden State Warriors going up against the San Antonio Spurs. The other big storyline on the slate is the return of Kyrie Irving to a Brooklyn Nets roster that now includes All-Star James Harden. We’ll see the new Big 3 operate for the first time on Wednesday vs. the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Spread analysis
The biggest amount of handle on the spread is on the Celtics and Nets tonight. One is an underdog on the road and the other is a heavy road favorite. If Brooklyn looks like it should with Irving back in the lineup, the Cavs could be in big trouble. The Celtics are generally a good bet when they are getting points. Despite missing Jayson Tatum due to quarantine, Boston has split the past two games. We’ve seen the Sixers struggle to close teams out, failing to cover against the shorthanded Heat last week. Philly also just lost to the Grizz.
There’s clearly an edge with the Warriors only favored by 1 point against the Spurs at home. Golden State is 7-4 since starting the season 0-2. It’s not that the Spurs can’t win this game (since it’s basically a pick ‘em), it’s that you’d expect the Warriors to be giving a few more points at home and they aren’t.
