How the public is betting Tulsa vs. No. 8 Houston

The public is leaning pretty heavily on the Golden Hurricane to cover the spread in this one.

NCAA Basketball: Tulane at Houston Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

On Wednesday night the No. 8 Houston Cougars welcome the Tulsa Golden Hurricane as the Coogs try and avenge their lone loss this season. Tip-off is at 8 pm ET on ESPN+.

So where are sports bettors going as we get closer to game time? Let’s take a look. All odds and info were provided by DraftKings Sportsbook.

Point Spread

The Cougars are a 13-point favorite on game day. The betting public is backing underdog Tulsa overwhelmingly, with 96 percent of handle and 69 percent of bets.

Is the public right?

Houston has gotten much better since their loss to Tulsa, winning each game by an average of 14.5 points Tulsa proved to be one of the better teams in the AAC earlier this season, but they have slipped up a bit in recent weeks. Still, even when they do lose they keep it relatively close. I’d take +13 all day on the Golden Hurricane.

Over/Under

The point total is 126.5. The betting public is on the over, with 91 percent of handle and 85 percent of bets.

Is the public right?

Both of these teams score a good amount, particularly Houston in recent weeks. However, Tulsa’s offense has struggled from time to time since their win over the Cougars earlier this season. Still, I think 126.5 will get hit relatively easily.

Moneyline

Houston is -1250 on the moneyline while Tulsa is +700. The favorites are getting the action, with 94 percent of early handle and 93 percent of bets.

Is the public right?

The public is absolutely right on this one. Tulsa has faded down the stretch and Houston has gotten stronger and stronger. I’d be shocked if this goes down differently.
