CJ McCollum to miss at least one month due to fractured foot [UPDATE]

UPDATE: Jan. 19 — The Blazers announced McCollum has a fractured foot and will need at least one month before he can be re-evaluated. The team had announced the shooting guard would be sidelined at least one week. The timeline is a bit longer now, so that means if you have McCollum in season-long formats, scooping up a replacement would be a good call.

Hood started in place of CJ in Monday’s game vs. the Spurs. He played well despite the loss, scoring 21 points in 21 minutes on 9-of-14 shooting from the floor. If Hood continues to start, he’ll be an OK replacement on your bench. In the long-term, Dame is the one who will need to step up the most.

If you can’t grab Hood, Gary Trent isn’t a bad second option. There will be games Stotts opts for the hot hand and rolls with Trent if his shot is falling. Trent played 24 minutes off the bench against San Antonio, but couldn’t get anything going on offense.

Portland Trail Blazers SG CJ McCollum will be sidelined at least one week due to a left foot sprain. He will be re-evaluated in one week, per coach Terry Stotts. McCollum suffered the injury in Saturday’s game and was ruled out for Monday vs. the San Antonio Spurs. He may miss additional time before being able to return. The Blazers already announced that Rodney Hood will enter the starting lineup at SG in place of McCollum on MLK Day.

With McCollum out, Damian Lillard ($9,900) becomes a top tournament option. Hood ($3,100) is going to be a popular value option. Gary Trent Jr. ($4,000) will likely be the player to step up and see the most minutes with McCollum out. Trent has a higher ceiling than Hood, who is coming off major injury. The Blazers will also be without C Jusuf Nurkic, so Enes Kanter ($6,300) should get more run and maybe even more offensive touches against the Spurs this afternoon.

The line on this game is Spurs favored by 2 points. The Blazers getting points at home with Dame still in the lineup is a bit appealing. Nurkic and McCollum are key pieces but Kanter and a combination of Trent, Hood and Anfernee Simons isn’t a bad replacement group. I’d monitor the action on this line and see if the Blazers pick up some more points. In-game betting is also a good idea, plus take advantage of the player prop market in this game.
