Good news? Bad news? Either way, it is at least news that the Los Angeles Rams will have quarterback Jared Goff starting under center for Saturday’s Divisional round game against the Green Bay Packers. Goff, who’s recovering from a thumb injury that required surgery last month, is not even listed on the official injury report for this game.
Fantasy impact: Jared Goff (right thumb)
Last week, Goff was not healthy enough to get the start. He was active, backing up John Wolford. This week, Wolford’s out with a neck injury, and the Rams are banking on the extra week’s rest being enough for Goff to be closer to 100 percent. He did not look great when he relieved Wolford against the Seahawks last week, struggling with his accuracy and ability to push the ball down the field. He ended up completing just nine of 19 passes.
While he may be healthier, things won’t get much easier this week. Wide receiver Cooper Kupp is also dealing with an injury (to his knee) and they’re playing in less than ideal conditions outdoors in Green Bay. Look for the Rams to lean on their defense and running back Cam Akers in this one. Goff’s fantasy appeal is extremely limited.
