What to do with Le’Veon Bell, Clyde Edwards-Helaire in Divisional round of 2021 NFL playoffs

We go over the fantasy football and DFS outlook of Le’Veon Bell ahead of the Chiefs Divisional round matchup against the Browns in the 2021 NFL Playoffs.

The Kansas City Chiefs will begin their title defense when they take on the Cleveland Browns Sunday. Heading into this contest, everyone knows that quarterback Patrick Mahomes will be able to throw on the Browns’ secondary. However, can the Chiefs’ running game come alive and give this offense an added dimension? Let’s break it down below.

Fantasy Football analysis: Chiefs RB Le’Veon Bell ($5,100), Clyde Edwards-Helaire ($5,500)

Edwards-Helaire was having a productive rookie season, despite the addition of the veteran Bell and a high-ankle sprain that he suffered in Week 15. In his final regular season game against the Saints, Edwards-Helaire recorded 79 yards on 14 carries. Even though, he did not score a touchdown, CEH still managed to produce 9.3 fantasy points.

As for Bell, he hasn’t had that impressive rejuvenation to his career that many thought would happen in KC. Bell’s best performance this season happened against New Orleans, the same game where Edwards-Helaire hurt his ankle. The 28-year-old running back had 62 rushing yards on 15 carries, a 14-yard reception, and touchdown. Thanks to the touchdown, he scored a season-high 14.9 points.

However, which running back should you start in your DFS lineup? Both players are weapons in both the running and receiving games. However, Edwards-Helaire is listed as questionable on the injury report for Sunday. If the rook does play, then I’d expect to see him and Bell splits carries. But even if Edwards-Helaire does play, how effective will he be coming off of an ankle injury?
