What to do with Drew Brees in the Divisional round of the 2021 NFL playoffs

We go over the fantasy football and DFS outlook of Drew Brees ahead of the Saints Divisional round matchup against the Bucs in the 2021 NFL Playoffs.

Can Drew Brees lead the New Orleans Saints to a third victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this season? And in doing so, can he lift some fantasy managers to victories of their own this weekend?

Fantasy Football analysis: Saints QB Drew Brees, $5,600

Brees posted one of his best performances of 2020 when these teams last met. He went 22-for-36 for 222 yards and four touchdowns in a 38-3 win where everything that could go right did go right for the Saints (and everything that could go wrong did go wrong for the Bucs). His broken ribs don’t seem to be of concern any longer. Of course, with Brees having been sacked only twice in his past three games and living off of short, high-percentage throws, his risk of re-injury seems low as well. The Buccaneers have a fierce pass rush, but Brees was sacked just twice in his two wins over Tampa Bay. He has compiled an 8:3 touchdown-to-interception ratio in four games since his return to the field, and having Michael Thomas back in the fold certainly raises his Brees’ upside.

Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation

Brees is not a spectacular fantasy start during the Divisional round, but he is a safe one in a game that has the second-highest over-under of the weekend (51.5).
