Final Update

Chris Olave finished the national championship game with eight receptions for 69 yards. He wasn’t able to put together any game-changing plays we’ve seen from him throughout the season as the Buckeyes lost 52-24 to Alabama in the national title.

Update After 3Q

Chris Olave had one reception in the third quarter, and he has three catches for 34 yards in the game. Sixty-four is his season-low in yards, which came against Rutgers. Alabama leads 45-24.

Update Halftime

Chris Olave has gone silent, which is not a good sign for the Ohio State offense. For the Buckeyes to get back into this game in the second half, he will need to make a difference. Olave caught just two passes for 23 yards, and he didn’t record any stats in the second quarter. The Buckeyes trail 35-17, and Alabama gets the ball to start the third quarter.

Update After 1Q

Chris Olave has two receptions for 23 yards including a 20-yard gainer, which led to a touchdown three plays later.

Update 4:55 1Q

Chris Olave made his first difference-making play with an impressive grab for 20 yards to set up a touchdown for Master Teague III three plays later. Olave has two receptions for 23 yards so far as the Buckeyes tied it at 7.

The Ohio State Buckeyes are taking on the Alabama Crimson Tide in the College Football Playoff national championship game. Ohio State wide receiver is expected to be a key factor in whether the Buckeyes can hang with the Alabama high-flying offense.

Olave has gone over 100 receiving yards in five of the six games he played in this season. Through six games, he caught 42 passes for for 660 yards with seven receiving touchdowns.

This offense is a much different group with Olave in the lineup. He will need to be a big difference for this Ohio State passing game as it hopes to keep up with the Crimson Tide.
