Update 6:15 p.m.: It’s now -8.5 in favor of Alabama, and the total bets are now 51% of the handle and 49% of the action being on the Crimson Tide. The total stands at 75, with 55% of the cash and 60% of the tickets on the under.
The College Football Playoff national championship game is almost here. The Ohio State Buckeyes will face the Alabama Crimson Tide on Monday, Jan. 11 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida.
So where are sports bettors going as we get closer to game time? Let’s take a look. All odds and info were provided by DraftKings Sportsbook.
Point Spread
Right now at DK Alabama is a nine-point favorite. They’re getting 53% of the handle and 52% of the bets.
Is the public right?
Probably. The overwhelming offense of the Crimson Tide has yet to be even slowed down in 2020, much less stopped. Especially with the prospect of Jaylen Waddle returning for the Tide, it could be a blowout early.
Over/Under
Right now the total is set at 75, with 57% of the cash and 59% of the bets on the under.
Is the public right?
It’s just going to depend on who’s playing. If both the Buckeyes and Crimson Tide are at full health, there’s no question these teams can combine for 11 touchdowns in 60 minutes of football. But until we get a final clearance on rosters, we just won’t know for sure.
Both these teams can be lethal in the passing and running game, and even if fully loaded, the defenses should be a step behind.
Moneyline
Alabama is a -315 favorite, which makes Ohio State a +240 underdog to win outright. Bama is getting 59% of the action and 56% of the tickets written.
Is the public right?
It’s tough to see a scenario where this lethal Alabama team doesn’t walk away with a national title. If anything, there should probably be a bit more action on the favorite at this price. Especially if Waddle is ready to play.
