The New Orleans Saints and Tampa Bay Buccaneers are set to face off for the third time this year in the Divisional Round on Sunday at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. The home team swept Tampa Bay during the regular season but they’ll have to hold them off again to advance to the third round of the postseason.
Here’s a look at the opening odds of this matchup between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New Orleans Saints in the second round of the 2020 NFL Playoffs. Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook.
Bucs vs. Saints
Point spread: Saints -3.5
Point total: 50
Moneyline: Buccaneers +148, Saints -182
New Orleans had a cakewalk in the Wild Card Round and topped the Chicago Bears 21-9. Now the Saints will get a chance to dominate a Bucs team they beat by an average of 18 points during the regular season. The Saints are as healthy as ever when it comes to their key skill players and the same can’t be said for Tampa Bay.
Ronald Jones is questionable to play because of a quad injury he suffered before the Bucs’ first-round game against the Washington Football Team. Having more than one viable running back available against the Saints’ stout run defense could be big, as New Orleans allowed the fourth-fewest rushing yards and second-fewest rushing scores during the regular season. Tampa Bay has a top-notch run defense of its own but will have to hold up against the Saints passing attack to have a chance at securing an upset. Drew Brees, Alvin Kamara, and Michael Thomas won’t make that easy.
