Update: Final
For those Heisman voters who did not select DeVonta Smith, they might want to reconsider because he put on another incredible performance in the Rose Bowl. He wasn’t needed much in the second half and finished with seven catches for 130 yards with three touchdowns. Next up is either Ohio State or Clemson as the Crimson Tide got the win. Regardless, he’s the most dangerous option on the Alabama offense.
Update: After 3rd quarter
Smith has seven catches for 130 yards and three touchdowns. But he’s lost five yards rushing. And clearly this is why the Miami Dolphins shouldn’t draft him at No. 3 overall, right??
Update: 4:58 3rd quarter
Well, he did it again. DeVonta Smith now has 20 receiving touchdowns on the season. His third of the day gave Alabama a 28-7 lead.

Update: Halftime
DeVonta Smith scored on the first drive of the game with a 26-yard score. He was generous enough to give another Alabama pass catcher a touchdown on the second drive, but Smith took a slant for 36 yards for the end zone. He finished the first half with five catches for 101 yards and two touchdowns. He also carried the ball once and lost five yards on the play. Alabama leads 21-7.
Update: 8:49 2nd quarter
DeVonta Smith continues to show why he is the Heisman front runner as he scored his second touchdown of the game, taking a slant 34 yards to the house to give the Crimson Tide a 21-7 lead in the second quarter. He is already approaching 100 yard receiving with four catches for 93 yards and a pair of scores.

The Alabama Crimson Tide takes on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the 2021 Rose Bowl, and plenty of eyes will be on Alabama wide receiver DeVonta Smith. Currently listed as the Heisman favorite according to DraftKings Sportsbook, Smith could be the first at his position to win the award since 1991 with Michigan’s Desmond Howard. We’ll be tracking his performance throughout the game as the Tide look to advance to the national title game.
Smith put together one of the best seasons by a wide receiver we’ve seen in a long time this year. He ranks No. 1 in all of college football with receptions and yards and second in touchdown catches. Heading into this game, Smith caught 98 passes for 1,511 yards with 17 touchdowns. He is a major reason Alabama’s offense is so dangerous especially after receiver Jaylen Waddle was injured earlier this season.
