What to do with Jeff Wilson Jr. in Week 17 of the fantasy football playoffs

We go over the fantasy football outlook of Jeff Wilson Jr. ahead of the 49ers Week 17 matchup against the Seahawks.

The San Francisco 49ers close out their 2020 schedule with a chance to play a bit of a spoiler role against the Seattle Seahawks. Seattle has a shot at the No. 1 seed with a win and some help, so the 49ers can trip them up before the 2021 NFL playoffs get going.

The 49ers are considerably shorthanded due to injury. Running back Raheem Mostert is closing out the season on injured reserve, and Jeff Wilson Jr. will get the start in his place. Jerick McKinnon and Tevin Coleman will see work as well, but Wilson has impressed when getting bigger opportunities. Last week, against the Arizona Cardinals, he rushed for a career-high 183 yards and added a 21-yard touchdown reception.

Fantasy Football analysis: 49ers RB Jeff Wilson Jr.

Wilson took over the starting role when Mostert re-injured his ankle in Week 15. He’s had his ups and downs in 2020, but when Wilson has been the clear starter from the start of a game, he’s impressed with a pair of 100+ yard performances.

If you are looking at Wilson as an option, you don’t have to worry much about McKinnon or Coleman taking too much work. McKinnon will get some looks in the passing game while Coleman will spell Wilson here and there. Neither is worth a fantasy start in their own right.

The 49ers face a Seahawks defense that ranks 12th in fantasy points allowed to running backs over the past four weeks. The 49ers will be without Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk, and while George Kittle will be back, we can expect another sizable workload for Wilson.

Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation

Start Wilson as an RB2 in all formats.
