Wednesday injury report: NFL teams released their first injury reports of the 2020 season on Wednesday for Week 1. Among tight ends, the following made an appearance:
Ian Thomas (toe) — Full participation — nothing to worry about
Mike Gesicki (glute) — Limited participation — worth tracking to see if he improves to full
Football is back! Right? Yeah, it is! And we’re back with weekly fantasy football rankings. With no preseason games and limited to no fans in the stadiums, it will likely take these teams a little while to get to top performance. The good news is, we’ve all watched a lot of bad football in our days and somehow managed not to gouge our own eyes out. Oh, and great players make great plays and we’ll see those as well.
We’ve got your usual suspects at the top of the tight end rankings and barring injury, they’ll likely stay that way. Keep an eye on Travis Kelce’s knee this week, but if he practices normally, he’s still your No. 1.
Zach Ertz should be a PPR stud again, especially with the Eagles down a couple receivers. And the same should be true of Darren Waller, who’s main competition for targets are two rookie receivers.
Jared Cook was a big play maker for the Saints last season and I expect he gets off to a good start against the Bucs, who are weak at safety.

Mo Alie-Cox, Colts
The Colts will be without Trey Burton to start the season, so Alie-Cox should fill in for him. Cox was hurt last year and relegated to blocking, but he’s back and has decent upside in this role, especially in a good matchup with the Jaguars awful defense.
Robert Tonyan, Packers
It looks like George Kittle’s workout buddy has won the starting job in Green Bay and is at least worth rostering if you are weak at the position. This isn’t a good matchup for him against the Vikings, but tight ends can score touchdowns at the weirdest times.
