It’s crazy what an insane buzzer beater can do for your confidence. It seems like forever ago that the Boston Celtics were up 2-0 on the No. 2 seed Toronto Raptors and looking in the driver’s seat. Now the Raptors have won two straight and are behind the wheel again. So how do we approach Game 5? Captain’s Pick
Pascal Siakam ($13,500)
Siakam seems like he’s trending in the right direction after struggling in Games 1-3. He had 23 points and 11 boards in Game 4 for 42.25 DKFP. Siakam didn’t even shoot well in the win — 10-of-23 from the floor and 2-of-13 from distance. He really just needs to stop taking 3-pointers and get to the basket more. I think Siakam will make adjustments with Nick Nurse and he’s close to having one of those All-Star performances. It also seems like the Celtics are letting up a bit on defense.
Fade of the Game
Marcus Smart ($7,400)
Smart is coming off a couple of bad games after filling it up. So basically that means he’s going to go off and not miss a shot from distance in Game 5. But seriously, unless Smart gets insanely hot from outside, he really doesn’t have much upside. Even when he was hitting shots in Games 1 and 2, Smart topped out at around 36 DKFP, which isn’t even that great at this price.
Value Picks
Serge Ibaka ($6,800) — There’s a pretty tight rotation for both teams, so value is scarce. Ibaka played extremely well in Game 4 with 18 points in 22 minutes. Maybe this is a turning point and Nick Nurse will give Ibaka more playing time over Marc Gasol. Ibaka is just way more athletic and less of a liability on defense.
Robert Williams ($4,600) — We’re going back to Time Lord for some value. On a per minute basis, Williams has been the better option over Grant Williams ($3,600) off the Celtics bench. If Daniel Theis gets into foul trouble, we should see Robert Williams get around 15-20 minutes.
