How the public is betting 2020 NFL Offensive Player of the Year

Last year’s NFL Offensive Player of the Year isn’t receiving much attention with a massive longshot at the top.

The NFL Offensive Player of the Year Award has been split up pretty well between running backs and quarterbacks over the year, with wide receivers a rare winner. The reigning winner is a wide receiver, however. Saints receiver Michael Thomas was the recipient of the NFL Offensive Player of the Year award last season, but he is not receiving much attention from the betting public. He is not among the top 10 in percentage of handle despite having the fifth best odds at +1000.

The handle on the award in 2020 is headlined by a few longshots according to DraftKings Sportsbook. Most notably, Los Angeles Rams quarterback Jared Goff has 18% of the bets coming in on him despite not being valued that high by oddsmakers. Goff is currently listed with the 60th best odds to win the award at +12500. One percent of the bets have been placed on him.

Kyler Murray is tied for the 17th best odds at +4000 but comes in at No. 2 in terms of percentage of handle from the betting public. The Arizona Cardinals quarterback has received 8% of all bets on the award.

Patrick Mahomes is the favorite to win the Offensive Player of the Year award with +700 odds, but he is third in percentage of the betting handle with 12%. He is getting 8% of total wagers heading into Week 1.

The highest percentage of bets belongs to New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley with 11% of the betting public taking action on him to win it. He has +3300 odds for the award, which is tied for 15th in the NFL.

Philadelphia Eagles running back Miles Sanders is another longshot with plenty of sports bettors optimistic about his 2020 season. He is tied for 43rd with +8000 odds but is receiving 3% of the handle for the seventh most in the league.
