Colts new tight end Trey Burton injured his calf last Saturday and was unable to put weight on his leg, per The Athletic’s Stephen Holder. Now, coach Frank Reich says that Burton will miss the first two games with a calf injury.

Reich has given Burton a lot of praise in camp, saying that he would have a “really productive year” and “a lot of the things are going to flow, a lot of things are going to be good in this offense because of Trey Burton.” But now that will be put on hold for at least two weeks.

Burton was in line to play the same role that helped Eric Ebron to his best season ever, but now that work will likely be split between Jack Doyle and Mo Alie-Cox . Both should see a bump against the Jaguars and Vikings to start the season while Parris Campbell and Nyheim Hines could see some extra work as well.
