Indianapolis Colts rookie wide receiver had surgery on Sunday night for compartment leg syndrome in his calf, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Pittman should be able to return after their Week 7 bye.
Pittman has been starting for the Colts, but has totaled nine receptions on 12 targets for 73 yards so far. Zach Pascal should move into Pittman’s role while Reece Fountain and Ashton Dulin will start seeing time on the field.
This should help T.Y. Hilton see more work and with their tight end room getting healthier, Mo Alie-Cox and Trey Burton are going to get in on the action. But usage has been tough to figure with so many injuries and them blowing out their opponent’s the last two weeks. Philip Rivers will need to throw more than he has lately, which should help concentrate wide receiver targets with Pittman out.
