How to handle Sammy Watkins injury in Week 3 fantasy football

The Chiefs should have Sammy Watkins in the lineup on Monday Night Football against the Ravens in Week 3. We break down what it means for fantasy football.

Game status: Watkins is ACTIVE for the Chiefs in Monday Night Football.

The Kansas City Chiefs travel to face the Baltimore Ravens in Week 3 on Monday Night Football, and quarterback Patrick Mahomes should have all of his pass catchers on hand. Wide receiver Sammy Watkins is listed as questionable for the game, but he is making solid progress.

Watkins suffered a concussion last week, although head coach Andy Reid described it as more of a neck injury. Watkins was limited at practice on Thursday and Friday, but then was a full participant on Saturday.

Fantasy impact: Sammy Watkins injury

The upgrade to full participation makes it a strong likelihood he’ll be playing on Monday. It’s not ideal being the last game of Week 3, but if you don’t have better options, it’s worth rolling the dice on Watkins.

That being said, Watkins is not a great option on Monday. The Ravens have given up the second fewest fantasy points to wide receivers through two weeks. The Ravens faced the Browns and Texans the first two weeks, so these are decent potential passing attacks. Watkins is a flex option for this weekend. Tyreek Hill is worth starting, while Demarcus Robinson and Mecole Hardman should be benched on Monday.
