What to do with David Johnson, Duke Johnson in Week 3 fantasy football

This could be the “return” of David Johnson.

David Johnson has been as much of an enigma in Arizona as he was in Houston.

After rushing for 77 yards and a touchdown in Week 1 against the Kansas City Chiefs, David Johnson was only able to total 34 rushing yards against the Baltimore Ravens last week.

But it might be time for the Texans offense to turn a corner this week, as the Texans face off against the Detroit Lions, who have allowed the fourth-most points to opposing running backs through the season’s first two weeks.

Fantasy Football analysis: Texans RBs David Johnson, Duke Johnson

Aaron Jones of the Green Bay Packers is a week removed from putting up 336 yards and 3 scores against the Lions defense. There likely won’t be an easier game on paper for David Johnson and the Texans rushing attack this year. If David Johnson can’t have a big game against the Detroit Lions this week, then it might be time to label him a bust.

But let’s live in a world where David Johnson can still be a high-end fantasy running back. One of the David Johnson’s strengths is his ability in the passing game. The only problem? The Texans have a third-down back in Duke Johnson whose sole skillset is what he can providing as a pass-catcher out of the backfield. Duke Johnson’s ceiling is obviously limited with the presence of David Johnson, and considering what the Texans paid to bring David Johnson to Houston, they will give David Johnson every chance to prove he was worth it.

Start David Johnson as an RB1. Bench Duke Johnson.
