Titans tight end Jonnu Smith has become a popular target for QB Ryan Tannehill. He’s already been very productive, especially in week 2 when the Titans were down another pass-catching option in WR A.J. Brown.
Smith gave fantasy owners a bit of a scare on Wednesday, when he was held out of practice with an ankle injury. But it doesn’t appear to be anything serious as he was a full participant in Friday’s practice.
Fantasy Football analysis: Titans TE Jonnu Smith
Ryan Tannehill loves to go to Smith, especially near the goal line. In week 2 against Jacksonville he was the Titans leading receiver, hauling in four catches for 84 yards and two touchdowns. Week 3 will see Smith go up against the Vikings, who have allowed the 13th fewest points to tight ends in the brief season.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
Smith has been a security blanket for Tannehill in the red zone, already nabbing three touchdowns this year. With A.J. Brown projected to be held out for another week, Smith should see consistent targets. While he won’t pile up yards a ton of, he catches nearly everything thrown his way and scores a lot of touchdowns.
That makes him an obvious start candidate in your lineup this week.
