There’s one thing we know about the Houston Texans offense, it’s got Deshaun Watson and that’s about it. Everything else about it is a guessing game, and that’s especially true for its two main tight ends, neither of whom belong in fantasy lineups this week.
Fantasy Football analysis: Texans TEs Jordan Akins, Darren Fells
Both Akins and Fells have scored touchdowns this season. Fells found the end zone last week against the Ravens, but only caught two passes for less than 30 yards. Akins scored his in Week 1, but only caught two passes in that one. Overall, Akins has the edge in targets, nine to six, which has translated into 94 receiving yards versus 42 for Fells.
The problem here is the usage patterns. Both players haven’t put up the kind of numbers this season that would allow you to comfortably start either one of them. While both have scored, you’re essentially throwing darts blindly to have one or the other in your lineup in the hopes they’ll do so again. This week’s matchup isn’t great either; the Steelers are the 13th best team in the league against opposing tight ends.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
Sit Jordan Akins and Darren Fells.
