Last season, Austin Hooper was a reliable, every-week starter at the tight end position. His fortunes have changed since joining the Browns this year, where he’s nearly an afterthought in the passing game. That’s also relegated him to fantasy insignificance.
Fantasy Football analysis: Browns TE Austin Hooper
Hooper has just four catches for 37 yards in two games with the Browns this year. More telling, perhaps, is that he’s only been targeted six times so far. The tight end position just doesn’t factor heavily into the Browns offense.
Still, Hooper’s talented enough to have a decent game or two along the way this season, but it’s hard to know when that’s going to happen, and guessing at it presents too great an opportunity cost for fantasy lineups. This week’s matchup against Washington doesn’t look like one of those breakout games either. A tough defensive front, will likely mean more emphasis on the run by a Browns team that’s already a run-first offense. Look elsewhere for tight end help.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
Sit Austin Hooper.
