When their starting tight end Blake Jarwin suffered a torn ACL in the first week of the season, the Dallas Cowboys turned to Dalton Schultz. The move paid off, and now we have to ask if he’s worth regular attention for fantasy football.
Fantasy Football analysis: Cowboys TE Dalton Schultz
Schultz had nine catches for 88 yards and a touchdown in last week’s win over the Falcons. He led the team in total targets with 10, so it’s safe to say quarterback Dak Prescott trusts him in the passing game.
Dallas’ offense is loaded with weapons, which makes his target share last week that much more impressive. However, it’s the kind of situation where it could cut into his week-to-week production. This week’s matchup against the Seahawks is a little tougher—Seattle’s allowed just one touchdown and 58 total yards to tight ends this season—but the fact that Schultz clearly has a role to play moving the chains in an offense that’s going to throw the ball a ton gives him value.
If you don’t have Travis Kelce or one of the other obvious top tier tight ends, Schultz is a solid option to have in your lineup the rest of the season. He’s also a great DFS value at just $4,500 in DraftKings leagues this week.
