What to do with Tyler Higbee, Gerald Everett in Week 3 fantasy football

Don’t let the two names fool you, the Rams have a preferred option at the tight end position.

At the start of last season, Tyler Higbee sat in the second spot on the Rams’ depth chart behind Gerald Everett. However, a knee injury Everett suffered midway through the season, thrust Higbee into the top spot. So far this season, he’s done nothing but cement his hold on the starting role for the Rams and fantasy lineups everywhere.

Fantasy Football analysis: Rams TEs Tyler Higbee, Gerald Everett

Higbee was the most trusted option for Rams quarterback Jared Goff in the red zone last week—three of his five catches were touchdowns. That has something to do with the fact that injuries have compromised the team’s stable of running backs, but it’s also a good sign that Goff and Higbee have deepened the connection forged last season.

Injuries have already been a problem again for Everett this season. He left the season opener with a back injury. And while he was able to play last week, he was not targeted at all.

So what about this week in a difficult road matchup against the Buffalo Bills? You can fade Everett based on usage patterns this season. Higbee’s a clear favorite in that offense. Plus, Buffalo allowed 130 yards and a touchdown to Dolphins tight end Mike Gesicki last week, making Higbee an attractive option for fantasy lineups in Week 3.
