What to do with Kenyan Drake, Chase Edmonds in Week 3 fantasy football

What will this desert duo accomplish against the Detroit Lions’ toothless defense?

The Detroit Lions allowed more than 120 yards from scrimmage to the Chicago Bears’ running backs in Week 1 before being absolutely shredded by Aaron Jones to the tune of 236 total yards and three touchdowns last weekend. Kenyan Drake is the next man in line to take advantage of this cake matchup, and Chase Edmonds will get a few chances to break off a long run, too.

Fantasy Football analysis: Cardinals RBs Kenyan Drake, Chase Edmonds

Getting dealt out of Miami was the best thing to happen to Drake’s fantasy value. Whereas he was kept under wraps by Adam Gase for the first few years of his career, he has been unleashed by head coach Kliff Kingsbury and the Arizona Cardinals. Drake has averaged 19.1 touches, 113.4 yards per game and has scored nine times through his first 10 games in red.

Drake is off to a solid if not spectacular start this season. He has provided double-digit points each week to his fantasy owners in PPR leagues, but he has a real shot to be spectacular in Week 3 against the Detroit Lions, who are last in the NFL in run defense.

Edmonds has siphoned between 6-8 touches per week so far, but he is playing only about one-third of the Cardinals’ offensive snaps. Drake, by comparison, has been on the field 65-70% of the time.

Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation

Drake is a locked-in RB1 for Week 3 and is worth paying for in DFS at $6,000. Although Edmonds shouldn’t be used in season-long leagues, he is probably one of the best handcuffs in fantasy. He costs $4,600 on DraftKings this week.
