What to do with Joe Mixon in Week 3 fantasy football

The pass-happy Bengals head to Philly this week. Should Joe Mixon get a start in your lineup?

NFL: Cincinnati Bengals at Cleveland Browns Ken Blaze-USA TODAY Sports

With a rookie quarterback trying to learn an NFL system, many people expected Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon to have a big impact on the field and in fantasy lineups. Unfortunately, that hasn’t been the case so far. Mixon will be hoping to pick up production this week as the Bengals head to the city of brotherly love to face the Philadelphia Eagles.

Fantasy Football analysis: Bengals RB Joe Mixon

Through two weeks Mixon has just 115 yards and zero touchdowns. He’s faced two top half run defenses in the Browns and Ravens, but the Eagles also rank 6th in average yards per carry allowed, at 3.6. Even though the average YPC is low, the Eagles defense is susceptible to giving up touchdowns on the ground. They’ve allowed four in 2020, so if Joe Burrow can march the offense down the field there may be a short TD in it for Mixon.

Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation

Last week the Bengals threw the ball 61 times and ran it just 24 times. Philadelphia hasn’t allowed a running back to eclipse 90 yards on the ground and Mixon isn’t a huge threat as a pass-catcher, so I’d play it safe and sit him this week.
