What to do with Philip Rivers in Week 3 fantasy football

Philip Rivers is off to a poor start with the Colts, but the Jets could offer him a shot at redemption in Week 3.

The Indianapolis Colts felt that signing Philip Rivers to replace Jacoby Brissett under center was the best move for their team ahead of the 2020 season, but the veteran hasn’t looked looked very good so far. Injuries to key players could make things hard on Rivers, but he has a chance to take advantage of what appears to be an easy matchup against the New York Jets in Week 3.

Fantasy Football analysis: Colts QB Philip Rivers

T.Y. Hilton saw just 58 percent of his team’s snaps in Week 2 despite being completely healthy, and that’s cause for concern. Parris Campbell is out indefinitely with a knee injury while Marlon Mack is done for the year with a torn Achilles. While Rivers has 566 passing yards, he’s only thrown for two touchdowns this year with three interceptions. Second string tight end Mo Alie-Cox leads the Colts with 131 receiving yards, and there’s no clear second option behind Hilton out wide. Rookie running back Jonathan Taylor might be Indianapolis’ best weapon at this point.

Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation

While the Jets have been one of the worst defensive teams in the NFL so far, I’d sit Rivers here. I wouldn’t count on Alie-Cox accounting for 30 percent of his passing yardage again. Rivers’ interception rate and lack of a go-to guy limit his upside. His risky throws aren’t paying off with his new team.
