DFS considerations for Dominick Reyes vs. Jan Blachowicz at UFC 253

In a light heavyweight bout for the vacant title, #1 Dominick Reyes faces #3 Jan Blachowicz live at Fight Island in Abu Dhabi this Saturday and on pay-per-view in the USA.

Reyes will enter the octagon as the favorite on the moneyline at -286. Blachowicz is currently sitting at +230. While that may seem like a decisive spread, it’s for a reason as Reyes, on paper, looks to be the strong favorite.

In fantasy, it’s the similar story.

Despite only having 58 points in his last fight, there are two things to note. One is that it went the distance, and the second is that it was against Jon Jones. The fight before that he topped 100 against Chris Weidman as the middleweight sized up a weight class to fight Reyes.

Reyes has an edge over Blachowicz in fantasy points per fight with 89.5 compared to his 67.9. It’s not all bad for Blachowsicz as he is the more prone to grapple, and if he can get this fight on the ground, it could swing his way early.

That said, in this co-main event, the safer bet will be Reyes, but given his price tag, Blachowsicz’s ability to defend (shields 54 percent of strikes at him), and the lack of points awarded when fights go, it may be a better bout to just stay away from.
