MAC approves the return of football in 2020

I guess you could call it... The Return of the MAC.

The Mid-American Conference has decided to play football in 2020, meaning all 10 FBS conferences will now attempt to complete a season before the end of the calendar year.

The league ended their season shortly after the Big Ten decided to only play conference games, before canceling all-together, before eventually deciding to play again, with an impassioned plea by Northern Illinois President Lisa Freeman kickstarting the conversation about playing football at all nationwide.

But with the advancements in Covid-19 testing, and the economic factors around not playing carrying some weight, the league has decided to press onward. Despite the mass amounts of cancelations happening all across the country already, the league feels like it can play a respectable schedule and determine a champion. We’ll all find out together.

As of now, the only FBS schools not playing college football during the fall of 2020 are New Mexico State, UConn, and Old Dominion. Others, such as Hawai’i and New Mexico, still have hurdles to clear before they can return to play.

So it will be a truncated 2020 college football season everywhere, and a LOT of games packed into a short amount time beginning in late October.

But there will be a college football season.
