The Denver Nuggets showed that resolve we’ve seen all postseason and made it a series by winning Game 3 against the Los Angeles Lakers. The Western Conference Finals is now at 2-1 with a crucial Game 4 on tap for Thursday night. We had a successful night on Wednesday in Game 4 between the Boston Celtics and Miami Heat, hitting all three player props. Let’s keep the good juju rollin’ into Lakers-Nuggets.
Rajon Rondo over 20.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists (-110)
This is a prop we’ve gotten a lot of action on since Rondo returned to the lineup in the second round. Playoff Rondo is a thing and after a poor Game 3, I’m expecting a big response from the Lakers in Game 4. Rondo is the only player off the bench who sees minutes and even in an off Game 3, he came very close to the over on this number. A slight bounce back tonight and I think Rondo clears this number pretty easily.
LeBron James Top Point Scorer (+225)
After a tough loss in Game 3, I think we see a big response from the Lakers, particularly on the defensive end. So with that in mind, L.A. should be looking to clamp down on Jamal Murray tonight. Now, that isn’t exactly easy but it may be necessary if the Lakers want to avoid letting the Nuggets tie the series. With the second-best odds to be top scorer behind Anthony Davis (+175), I like LeBron to do it again after dropping 30 in Game 3. James looked unstoppable on Tuesday, it was just AD struggled and nobody really stepped up. Even if the game is wide open and close, LeBron may need to take over again. It’s a LeBron Night, baby!
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope over 1.5 3-pointers (-121)
KCP has gotten at least 5 looks from outside in every game in the Western Conference Finals. He’s gone over this number in each of those games. So pretty simple bet here. Caldwell-Pope is almost always going to see around 30 minutes due to his perimeter defense and he’s actually been great in this series so far after being quiet in the second round. We’ve seen high scoring games in two of three, and I’d expect more defense from the Lakers than the Nuggets tonight.
Bonus Bet: Jamal Murray under 25.5 points (+100)
We could be drastically wrong with this play, but like I said, this seems like a spot where the Lakers tighten things up on defense. If that’s the case, getting somebody outside on Murray for most of the game makes sense. Might we see some LeBron James on Murray tonight? Even so, Murray’s gone under this number twice in three games in the series, so percentages are with us. Not counting the first round, Murray has gone under this total in 6 of 10 playoff games. So 60% of the time it works every time! Don’t listen to that, it’s just non-sense from Anchorman. Seriously though, I like the juice on this number if L.A. plays defense tonight. Keep in mind, not a heavy unit play.
