What to do with Jaguars & Dolphins D/ST in Week 3 fantasy football

Are either of these Florida D/ST’s worth gambling on in Week 3

The battle to be top dog in Florida is happening on Thursday night. While neither the Jaguars or the Dolphins offenses are considered to be particularly formidable opponents, the Jaguars and Dolphins D/ST’s are considered to be equally nonthreatening. It’s possible that despite a favorable match-up, neither of these teams’ D/ST are worthy of having a place in your Week 3 starting lineup. We break down the fantasy implications below.

Fantasy Football analysis: Dolphins D/ST, Jaguars D/ST

The Dolphins D/ST has managed to accumulate a total of -3.0 fantasy points over the first two weeks of the season. They are banged up and their injury report does not indicate that they will have better luck in Week 3. Xavien Howard, Clayton Fejedelem, Shaw Lawson, and Byron Jones have all been unable to log full practices this week. Gardner Minshew has been hot lately and may look to attack this depleted squad. The Dolphins D/ST belongs on the waiver wire in nearly all leagues.

The Jaguars D/ST has not fared much better than Miami’s as they enter Week 3 with a cumulative fantasy point total of 1.0. CB Brandon Watson is the only member of the defense that popped up on the injury report this week, but just because they are healthy does not mean they are startable. Even though Ryan Fitzpatrick has a propensity for turnovers, the inability of this D/ST to put up positive numbers in Week 2 does not bode well. They are best left on your bench, despite the ideal matchup.
