Friday PM update: The Saints released their final injury report and the team has ruled Michael Thomas out for Sunday vs. the Packers.

Thursday update: Thomas was unable to practice on Thursday, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. The team continues to show some optimism, as they haven’t put him on three-week I.R., but it would be a quick turnaround from a high-ankle sprain for him to play this week.

The New Orleans Saints held a walkthrough practice on Wednesday to get their week going, and wide receiver Michael Thomas was listed as a DNP. The team did not go through a normal practice because they played on Monday, so the injury report was an estimation.

Thomas suffered a high ankle sprain in Week 1 and did not play in Week 2. The early reports had him out for multiple weeks, but the team did not use the injured reserve slot that would require a three-week absence. Thomas is headed to Green Bay this week for a visit with Packers team doctor Robert Anderson to get an in-person look from the renowned orthopedic surgeon. If he thinks enough progress has been made, Thomas could be cleared for Sunday vs. the Packers.

That being said, it seems unlikely Thomas is cleared so quickly given the nature of the injury. The Saints and Packers square off on Sunday Night Football, so this will be an injury status to track all week, especially if he ends up as questionable.
