Thursday update: Diontae Johnson returned to practice on Thursday, but JuJu Smith-Schuster remains out with his knee injury. ESPN’s Brooke Pryor doesn’t believe Smith-Schuster will miss the game, but not practicing Thursday isn’t a good sign to be sure.
WR JuJu Smith-Schuster didn’t practice today for the second consecutive day with a knee injury, but it doesn’t seem to be serious enough that he’ll miss Sunday’s game.

The Pittsburgh Steelers returned to practice on Wednesday to open Week 3, and a pattern is developing. Wide receivers JuJu Smith-Schuster (knee) and Diontae Johnson (toe) both sat out practice. This marked the third straight week Johnson has sat out Wednesday practice and the second straight week for Smith-Schuster.
It’s never ideal to see players showing up on the injury report, but for now it appears the Steelers are giving the two receivers maintenance days. Both have been highly productive through two weeks. Johnson leads the team with 14 receptions for 149 yards and has a touchdown while Smith-Schuster has 13 receptions for 117 yards and two touchdowns.
The Steelers face a struggling a Houston Texans team that ranks 25th in defensive efficiency. At some point the Texans defense could get on track, but for the time being, this is a good week to start the Steelers on your fantasy rosters.
