Report: Devonta Freeman will sign with the New York Giants

The Giants add the ex-Falcons star to their backfield after losing Saquon Barkley to an ACL tear.

The New York Giants lost star running back Saquon Barkley for the season last Sunday. That big blow pushed them to sign veteran back Devonta Freeman, per NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo. Freeman should quickly join a committee in the backfield consisting of Dion Lewis and Wayne Gallman.

This signing makes it tough to predict which, if any, Giants running back is worth rostering in fantasy football leagues. Freeman has likely stayed in shape, as he’s been shopping his wares about town, but he didn’t have training camp or any game action. Against the 49ers this week, it might be a good idea to sit all three of these backs to see what happens, but Freeman is worth a pickup for your benches in PPR leagues.
