There are some defenses widely available that either have good matchups heading into Week 3. With that in mind, here are three D/STs with under 50% ownership at traditional fantasy football leagues that managers can consider picking up in their leagues.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (50 percent)
The Bucs had five sacks, two interceptions and two fumble recoveries against the Panthers and now they’ll face a Broncos team that just lost their best wide receiver and starting quarterback. Jeff Driskel is a decent backup, but he’s going to have trouble against a swarming Tampa Bay defense in Week 3.
Los Angeles Chargers (30 percent)
It’s surprising to see that the Chargers are so available, as their well-rounded defense can do a little bit of everything. Los Angeles was nearly able to hold off the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 2 and will be up against a Carolina Panthers team that will be without Christian McCaffrey in Week 3. Carolina could be stifled without its most dynamic offensive weapon.
Washington Football Team (16 percent)
Washington is actually legit and has posted solid fantasy numbers for two straight weeks now. Chase Young leads a defensive front for Washington that has resulted in a league-high 5.5 sacks per game. Kyler Murray was able to expose them by rushing for 67 yards and two scores, but Baker Mayfield doesn’t have the same mobility. Washington could force a few turnovers against a Cleveland Browns team that could rely on the rush heavily this season.
