It’s still not clear if Courtland Sutton will suit up for the Denver Broncos this week, as the Broncos prepare to face off against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Without Sutton last week, the Broncos struggled in the passing game, as quarterback Drew Lock was only able to throw for 216 yards against a stingy Tennessee Titans secondary. The Broncos could be in for another tough task in the passing game in Week 2, facing a Steelers defense that allowed only 272 yards from Daniel Jones and the New York Giants, picking off Jones twice during the game.
Fantasy Football analysis: Broncos WRs Jerry Jeudy, Tim Patrick, K.J. Hamler
With Sutton out, the Broncos attempted to rely on rookie Jerry Jeudy to carry the Broncos passing game. Jeudy led the receiver group with 8 targets, but was only able to haul in four of them for a measly 56 yards.
Last week, the Steelers game up six receptions a piece to both Sterling Shepard and Darius Slayton of the Giants, with Slayton having a big game, ending the night with 102 yards and two touchdowns. It’s definitely in the realm of possibility that Jeudy could find similar success, but the chances are obviously lower if Courtland Sutton returns to bump Jeudy down the pecking order.
Fellow rookie K.J. Hamler was M.I.A. on the box score this week, and should likely not even be rostered except in dynasty formats. Tim Patrick, who caught four of five targets for 29 yards likely could be dropped if or when Sutton returns.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
Start Jeudy if Sutton is out. Sit Jeudy if Sutton returns. Sit Hamler and Patrick.
